The Original Brooklyn Pizza is an authentic New York–style pizzeria specializing in making a style of pizza characterized by large hand-tossed thin-crust pies, often sold in wide slices to go. It has a crust which is crisp along its edge yet soft enough beneath its toppings to be folded in half to eat.

The first pizzeria in America was founded by Gennaro Lombardi in New York City's Little Italy in 1905. An immigrant from Naples, he opened a grocery store in 1897. An employee, Antonio Totonno Pero, began making pizza in an altered Neapolitan style, which sold for five cents a pie. Many people, however, could not afford a whole pie and instead would offer what they could in return for a corresponding sized slice, which was wrapped in paper tied with string. In 1924, Tolono left Lombardi's to open his own pizzeria on Coney Island, called Totonno’s.

Brooklyn Pizza had established itself as a Lexington favorite prior to the closing of its first restaurant and other franchise locations in the area, the last of which was the Keithshire location that closed in 2010.

In 2012, a group of friends, dedicated to the taste, style and tradition previously embraced by Brooklyn Pizza, re-established it as The Original Brooklyn Pizza, and carry on the tradition begun by Mr. Lombardi all those many years ago. In addition to the authentic recipe for pizza, The Original Brooklyn Pizza also provides its customers with other multiple culinary options from sandwiches to salads, cheesecake and cannoli, a host of appetizers as well as a full service bar serving domestic, import and craft beers, wine and other spirits to compliment the many flavors of the restaurant.
